Biographical Info
FamilyCook’s Chefs for Change (C4C) program transforms unhealthy retail environments into healthier ones. It utilizes youth power – or trained adults – to get the word out and get the community’s attention. C4C equips SNAP-ED Grantees to train their staff, local youth and partner store staff to create attractive Grab ’n Go Mini Meals for retail sale. These offerings highlight fresh produce, low fat dairy, whole grain and other healthy ingredients prepared fresh daily for quick consumption. Since 2014, this project was developed, implemented in your 30 locations across NYC and fine-tuned to achieve: Reliable healthy food access; Trajectory to a profitable business model for partner stores; and Youth employment skill-development and job readiness.
